At night we left El Aaiun and started our way to the Moroccan border. We had to drive about 700 km on the highway, crossing the desert. The more you go to the southern part, the less is there to see – except sand and sun. And it is very hot outside the car – our onboard computer recorded a maximum temperature of about 47,5°C! A crazy hot temperature! Only the air condition helped us to make it through this day. Nevertheless we made very nice and racy shots of the desert, camels and, of course, our car on the road. At 6 pm we entered a very specific 4 km demilitarized zone, which is controlled by POLISARIO and UN forces, which have been staying here since 1991. Fortunately there are no very big difficulties to cross it. So we reached the boarder of Mauritania after 15 minutes, where we met our guide and fixer Idoumou. He will be with us for the Mauritania section, showing us this interesting country. Late at night we arrived in Nouakchott, where we will stay for the next 2 days.
